DEAR CAMERA

The before and after photos displayed is what I am really after, they are a hope that I can also change. But there is one thing I missed, the photograph missed and maybe lots of people are missing. The struggle in between.

I decided that I too can change, set the goal, the timeline and the after I want. I made it my mission to create my before and after.

Looh I was not prepared, no  photos showed the determination invested by these people. No camera captured the struggle to not go back to the past. No one posed for the perseverance when things were not moving, and no light was cast on the failures numerous before success. All we saw, all that we always see is the smile after success, the few words that ‘you too can make it.’

I then ask myself HOW? It is so hard, I wish they prepared me for this, maybe – just maybe – if someone told me about the pain, the sweat, the sleepless nights and the almost dying moments, maybe then I would have been more prepared. I would have seen the real life, I would have decided if I am really ready to put all that at stake.

But again we human beings, like to show case only our success, I have heard so many success stories that I wonder if there are any failures anymore. I am not saying that is bad, it just put unnecessary pressure on little old me who is failing every day. If someone out there showed the struggle, shared what it really takes, maybe I will realize my failures are part of the journey, I will know this pain is temporary, I will be more resilient to that urge to just give it all up.

So dear camera please capture the in between struggle, dear photograph please show me the whole picture and dearest lighting please show what it really takes to create that before and after appearance.
